Message: Today’s Message is delivered by our very special guest, Pastor Zakayo Pallangyo, of Patanumbe Parish, Southern District, in Tanzania, Africa.
Today we welcome Pastor Zakayo Pallangyo to our worship. Pastor Pallangyo is the pastor of our Diocese of Meru partner parish, Patanumbe.
Patanumbe is a parish with 6 preaching points spread over several miles in the Southern District of the diocese. It is located in a very dry part of the diocese, where the drought is very serious. Pastor Pallangyo is also the Southern District Pastor, so he has responsibilities to all of the parishes in the Southern District. He has an assistant
pastor, Pastor Akundael Kitomary, and evangelists that help him with the daily responsibilities at Patanumbe.
Pastor is married to Lillian, a school teacher, and has 5 children. Aneth is 17 and attends Nganza High School. Ebenezer is 15 and attends Star Academy. Erick is 10, Kerens is 7 and they both attend government elementary schools. Aimidiwe is 4 and a very active preschooler!
We have had a relationship with Patanumbe Parish for nearly 20 years, but we have become much closer since our visits to the diocese and Pastor’s first visit to us in 2009.
In the parishes of the Diocese of Meru there are several offerings taken at each Sunday worship service. There is the traditional offering that helps support the parish, and “in kind” offering for those who don’t have money to contribute, but will bring eggs, milk, vegetables, animals, or whatever they have to give. The “in kind” donations will be part of the auction after the worship service.
Today we will have a “noisy” offering. Cooking kettles will be passed throughout the congregation and you will have the chance to empty your pockets of coins & throw them into the kettles. Don’t have any coins? We will accept checks and paper money!!! All the proceeds from this offering will be given to Patanumbe Parish.
Please stay after worship and bid on the silent auction items. There will also be a live auction with our own Chris Peterson as the auctioneer!!!
Again, all proceeds go to Patanumbe Parish.
Prayer of the Day:
O Lord God, enliven and preserve your church with your perpetual mercy. Without your help, we mortals will fail: remove far from us everything that is harmful, and lead us toward all that gives life and salvation, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen
You have heard that it was said. “Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.” But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
One Service, Two Styles, More Songs:
Blessing: Today’s Blessing was given by Pastor Zakayo Pallangyo, in his native language. We are so sorry you missed it.
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. In the name of the Father; and of the Son; and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
