Mission of the Month for December

The Women’s Center in Waukesha

The Women’s Center is an independent, non-profit human service agency founded in 1977. They provide free and comprehensive services designed to address the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse, including trafficking.

The services offered by The Women’s Center include emergency shelter for abused families, transitional living, counseling, child abuse prevention programming, legal advocacy and employment counseling. They also provide Hispanic outreach, community education programs, information and referral services, and a 24-hour hotline (262-542-3828 or toll free at 1-888-542-3828).

At your Vernon, on Sunday December 3rd, we will have a guest speaker from the Women’s center at both services. They will also be available to answer any questions you may have.

We are collecting individual snack bags of Gold Fish and single size fruit cups. Monetary donations are being accepted and checks can be made to VELC. Please note on your check and envelope “The Women’s Center.”

Any question please text or call Shari at 262-547-7872 or e-mail at [email protected]

For surely, I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Jeremiah 29:11

We here at Vernon can help with what the Lord has said….

Christmas is right around the corner where we celebrate birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Would you consider Mary and Joseph to be homeless at the time of Jesus’ birth? Do you know what it is like to be homeless for the holidays? Can you even imagine what it must be like? I encourage you to ponder these questions as you consider aiding in this mission.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
