Helping Others

Vernon’s worship extends beyond the walls of our church through our mission work. From youth to seniors, we are proud to make a difference in the world through the power of God’s love. As we are drawn more deeply into the abundance of God’s love, we long to share, generously with others. Our partnerships in mission are local, regional and international and not only help those in need, but unite us in common bonds of humanity.

A very special core mission team works diligently to provide our congregation these opportunities to give back. That team includes Deb Fredlund, Carol Mainwaring, Lorry Taylor and Pastor Molly.

Mission of the Month: Each month, 5% of our collections is given to a qualifying organization.

In addition, we donate another 5% of our collections are given to the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Our Outreach missions in 2017 will be…

“The Year of Unity”

We have selected your 2017 missions to more fully concentrate on Unity in Relationships. We’ve also been listening to our members who have stated that they would like to help more within our local community.  Our church has what is called a Benevolence Fund where 5% of our contributions go toward supporting our ELCA Synod, as we should, and the other 5% will go toward self directed missions.  We will continue to support above and beyond that 5% as you feel your passion stirs you with Monetary Funding, Goods, and Service Donations.

Thank you for supporting your Vernon’s Missions!

Supporting Homeless Families in Waukesha County

Vernon has an ongoing mission commitment to the Hebron House of Hospitality in Waukesha for over 20 years.  Simple monthly meals consisting of casserole, salad, bread, vegetable tray, and cookies are home prepared and transported by rotating volunteer members of our church. Wouldn’t you like to help out this ministry that means so much to so many? “My command is this; Love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12 For over 30 years, Hebron House has been the largest nonprofit provider of services to the homeless men, women and children in Waukesha County. We thank our community of friends and supporters for enabling us to make a difference. Now is the time to join us in our mission to prevent homelessness by providing home, help and hope to those in need. Sign-up sheets are available at the resource wall next to the hallway doors or simply call your Vernon Office and ask to be signed up.
